Everton bosses make Marco Silva decision ahead of Premier League match vs Chelsea

Everton are likely to sack manager Marco Silva, should the Toffees fall to defeat against bitter rivals Liverpool during the week, according to reports.

The Mirror claim that Everton chiefs were close to sacking the Portuguese coach following the 2-0 defeat to Norwich City last week, however, it was decided that the manager would be given two more games to prove that he could turn the team's form around.

The first of them games was against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday. Everton took the lead through Richarlison in the first half, but Jamie Vardy leveled the scores in the second half, before Kelechi Iheanacho scored his first Premier League goal of the season in the dying seconds of the game to deny Silva's men a point.

The winning goal was originally given offside, but a check from the VAR officials awarded the goal.

Everton now go into the Merseyside derby knowing that a loss could see them slip into the relegation zone., should that happen, it is likely that The Goodison board would make a decision on the coach's future at the club, with him leaving before the next match against Chelsea.

Liverpool are eight points clear at the top of the league and are unbeaten in their last 31 league games.

Names such as David Moyes and Eddie Howe have already been mentioned as possible replacements for Silva, meaning that either could possibly be in the dugout for the match against the Blues.
