Everton boss Marco Silva responds to Arsenal's Mesut Ozil after coat tantrum

Everton boss Marco Silva admitted he did not notice Mesut Ozil's coat thrown in the direction of the dugout after the Arsenal star vented his frustration.

The German World Cup winner was replaced in the second half by Alex Iwobi and reacted angrily after Shkodran Mustafi was booked for a strong challenge on Dominic Calvert-Lewin near the touchline, which sent members of each side's coaching staff facing off.

Footage was then shown of Ozil's reaction to the incident, as he threw his jacket towards Unai Emery and Silva, who were exchanging choice words, but Silva said he did not notice.

"I didn’t notice it," he said in his brief response in the post-match press conference.

Defeat for Arsenal could prove to be decisive in the battle for a top-four finish and the Champions League football that comes with it, as Chelsea could move third on Monday evening if they beat West Ham.

Emery's side would still have a game in hand over their London rivals but it has left little room for further slips ahead of a run in that sees the Gunners face four away matches in their final six games of the season.

Arsenal still have to travel to face Watford, Wolves, Leicester City and Burnley before the curtain draws on Emery's first season at the Emirates Stadium.
