Everton boss Marco Silva provides positive Andre Gomes update after horror injury vs Spurs

Everton boss Marco Silva has stated that there is a possibility Andre Gomes could be back on the pitch before the season is out.

The midfielder suffered a fractured dislocation of his ankle in the closing stages of Sunday's 1-1 draw with Spurs following a challenge from Son Heung-min.

The South Korean was left in tears after seeing the extent of the ex-Barcelona man's injury and he has since seen his dismissal overturned by the FA after a successful appeal from Spurs.

Gomes underwent successful surgery on his ankle earlier in the week and his boss has claimed that the club's medical staff have given him some positive news regarding the Portuguese international.

"Not easy to give a sure date about when he will return," he said at his pre-match press conference, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

"Feedback from medical staff is it is possible we will see him playing again this season.

"It looks like a really serious injury, but everything went really well and we hope we can see him playing again this season.

"Of course we are not sure."

Spurs' successful appeal over the red card now means that Son is available for the upcoming league games against Sheffield United, West Ham and Bournemouth.

The club's appeal was put to Silva during his press conference and he had his say over the talking point.

"I am not the right person, I am here to respect all the decisions and all the clubs taken these types of decisions," he added.

"I’m not going to make a comment about the red card.

"I was the first one to say after the match of course Son did not want to do bad intention. After that it is for the referee to decide.”
