Everton boss Marco Silva 'not happy' with Jordan Pickford after 'incident' on Sunderland night out

Everton boss Marco Silva has spoken out after a video emerged appearing to show goalkeeper Jordan Pickford involved in a fracas outside a Sunderland pub.

Pickford, 25, is believed to have enjoyed a night out with friends, following his former team's Checkatrade Trophy defeat, before reportedly reacting to teasing by Newcastle United fans.

There were no reports of serious injuries, but Northumbria Police has confirmed it is investigating the incident, which happened during the early hours of Monday.

Today Silva has spoken out about the incident for the first time.

And he revealed that he is "not happy".

He said: "I had chance to speak with him. It was the first thing I did when we started this week.

"I am not happy, the club are not happy and the player is not happy."

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "At 12:19am (Monday), police received a report of a disturbance involving a large group of individuals on Tunstall Road, Sunderland .

"Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and locate those involved.

"Nobody is believed to have been seriously injured and no arrests have been made."

Sunderland fan Pickford grew-up in Washington and went to St Robert of Newminster Catholic School.

His parents enrolled him into Sunderland’s academy at the age of eight.

With no keeper positions up for grabs on Wearside, he gained experience during loan spells at Darlington, Alfreton Town, Burton Albion, Carlisle United, Bradford City and Preston North End.

He also represented his country at junior level aged under-16, U17, U18, U19, U20 and U21.

Pickford signed his first professional contract with Sunderland in 2011 before making a big money move to Everton last year.
