Everton boss Marco Silva explains what he said to Unai Emery during their heated touchline spat

Marco Silva confirmed that he and Unai Emery wished each other the best of luck for the season after a heated exchange.

Everton hosted Arsenal on Sunday afternoon with the Gunners frantically chasing down a Champions League spot and in need of a win to keep their dreams alive. They were dealt a boost when Michael Keane was withdrawn from the starting XI before kick-off in place of Phil Jagielka.

However, it was Jagielka that proved the difference between the sides as he was able to score the only goal of the game from a long throw.

Things became heated during the second half when Emery and Silva clashed but the former Watford and Hull manager confirmed their passions were a by-product of their competitive nature and that things ended amicably.

“We had that moment during the game, football is emotional in that moment,” he said.

“He wants the best for his team, I want the best for my team also. At the end of the match he had a lot of questions, I said to him ‘best of luck in the rest of your matches.”
