Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti faces consequences after Manchester United red card

Carlo Ancelotti was shown a red card after the final whistle of Everton's game with Manchester United following a controversial finale at Goodison.

The Blues thought they had grabbed a winner deep into time added-on when Harry Maguire put through his own net after he deflected a Dominic Calvert-Lewin shot.

Everton's winner looked to be standing but referee Chris Kavanagh consulted with the VAR who ruled that Gylfi Sigurdsson , sat on the floor in front of United goalkeeper David De Gea but avoiding contact with the ball, was interfering with play.

Ancelotti remonstrated with the fourth official as the final seconds of the game were played out and went over the Kavanagh after the final whistle to continue with his complaints.

Richarlison was also in disbelief that the goal was ruled out but Ancelotti's protestations earned him a red card from the referee.

The Everton boss is now likely to face a touchline ban and a possible fine from the Football Association.
