Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti explains difference between Farhad Moshiri and Roman Abramovich

Carlo Ancelotti has explained why meeting the expectations of Farhad Moshiri will be different to delivering on the demands of Roman Abramovich.

The Everton boss returns to Stamford Bridge dugout tomorrow for the first time since he was sacked by the London club in 2011 after defeat to the Blues at Goodison.

Ancelotti had delivered a league and cup double in his first season with Chelsea but failure to win the Champions League saw Abramovich wield the axe on the final day of his second season.

The Italian holds no ill-feeling over the decision to sack him and says he is now working at a club who know that time is needed.

“When I arrived at Chelsea the team was already ready to fight for the title and to win, so the expectation was different compared to Everton where there is the idea to be at the top, but it is going to take time, so the expectation is different," Ancelotti explained.

Asked about his sacking by Chelsea, he said: “It can happen eh? Maybe the club wants to change something in the structure of the club, they sack a manager it doesn’t matter.

"The fact that I was sacked can not change what I felt there - it was two fantastic years.

Frank Lampard is convinced Carlo Ancelotti will get a great reception from Chelsea supporters

"[There were] problems the second part of the final year, but at the end it was a fantastic experience."

Did Abramovich explain the decision?

“No, I didn’t speak to him, I spoke with him maybe three times [since]" he said.

Why Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has same Moise Kean problem Marco Silva had

"I still have a good relationship with him, he was very kind the two or three times I went back to watch Chelsea games and so I have to say thanks to him because he gave to me a great opportunity to me the manager of one of the top teams in England."
