Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti confirms injury boosts but Mason Holgate ruled out for Southampton

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed defender Mason Holgate is ruled out of the game against Southampton tomorrow.

Holgate was forced off with just over half an hour played in the 1-0 loss away to Spurs on Monday evening.

And in a press conference today, Ancelotti said the shin knock will keep Holgate on the sidelines for the clash with Saints.

Theo Walcott will be available again after undergoing abdominal surgery.

While Alex Iwobi is set to be assessed as the match approaches but could be in contention.

The boss also told that Fabian Delph is "still doing individual treatment" as he recovers from a calf issue.

And on Djibril Sidibe's condition, Ancelotti said: "He is not 100% but he is quite ready. Close to the top. I think he can start."

Reflecting on the Spurs defeat, the Italian said: "Our disappointment was the performance, was how we expected on the technical and tactical aspect.

"We could show more intensity but we could improve our knowledge, our spirit, our intensity.

"We competed, but we could compete differently."

He said: "Southampton are really well organised and play with a lot of intensity.

"They defend really well, really high with a lot of pressure."
