Everton appalled after Moise Kean 'hosts party' during coronavirus lockdown

Everton say they are "appalled" and have strongly condemned the actions of Moise Kean as "completely unacceptable" after the player was reported to have flouted coronavirus lockdown measures.

The Daily Star reported on Saturday that Kean hosted a party at his Cheshire apartment - breaching social distancing guidelines - and sent video clips to a private Snapchat group.

In a statement, Everton said: "Everton Football Club was appalled to learn of an incident in which a first team player ignored Government guidance and club policy in relation to the coronavirus crisis.

"The club has strongly expressed its disappointment to the player and made it clear that such actions are completely unacceptable.

"Everton has regularly stressed the importance of following all the Government guidelines - including rules and advice for inside and outside of the home - through a series of official communications to all staff members, including players.

"The amazing people in the NHS deserve the utmost respect for their hard work and sacrifice. The best way to show them respect is by doing everything we can to protect them."

Signed from Serie A giants Juventus for a £25million fee in August 2019, Kean has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League, making only 26 appearances and being linked with a return to Italy.

Last week, Arsenal reminded their squad of lockdown guidelines after record signing Nicolas Pepe was seen playing football with friends, David Luiz and Granit Xhaka were pictured together in a park and striker Alexandre Lacazette was also seen standing next to a car valeter at his home .

Tottenham did likewise after Serge Aurier and Moussa Sissoko trained together on Tuesday, while Jose Mourinho was reminded of his responsibilities earlier this month after organising a one-on-one training session with midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, with team-mates Ryan Sessegnon and Davinson Sanchez pictured jogging side by side on the same day.

In March, Manchester City defender Kyle Walker apologised after he and a friend hosted a party involving two sex workers and Jack Grealish was fined by Aston Villa after being pictured at the scene of a traffic accident.
