Everton announce 29-man Opel Cup squad as striker returns

Everton have announced a 29-man squad for this weekend's Opel Cup tournament in Germany.

The Blues will take on FSV Mainz 05 and Sevilla as part of a three-team tournament taking place in Mainz's 34,000 capacity Opel Arena.

All three matches in the competition will take place on the same day, with Everton playing two fixtures each lasting 60 minutes.

Mainz finished 12th in the Bundesliga last term while Sevilla, who took on the Blues at Goodison Park in the summer of 2017, finished sixth in La Liga last campaign.

Cenk Tosun returns to the squad having not figured as yet for Everton this pre-season due an injury picked up while playing for Turkey.

Idrissa Gueye, who has been linked again with a summer move to PSG, has not yet returned following his Africa Cup of Nations commitments while Mo Besic is not included in the travelling party.

The Blues conclude their pre-season programme with a friendly match at Werder Bremen on Saturday 3 August, ahead of their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park a week later.
