Everton and Liverpool watch on with interest as Tottenham hit by Fabio Paratici blow

Tottenham's managing director Fabio Paratici has had an initial Italian ban for alleged financial wrongdoings extended worldwide by FIFA - leaving the club in a perilous position as they look to appoint a new manager.

The 50-year-old, who was appointed as Spurs' managing director in the summer of 2021, was one of 12 one-time Juventus board members penalised earlier this year by the Italian Football Federation, which resulted in the Serie A giants being hit with an immediate 15-point deduction.

Now, FIFA have confirmed in a statement to The Athletic that the bans, including Paratici's, have been applied worldwide: “FIFA can confirm that following a request by the FIGC, the chairperson of FIFA Disciplinary Committee has decided to extend the sanctions imposed by FIGC on several football officials to have a worldwide effect.”

It leaves the North London outfit in a hazardous as they position as they look to sound out a successor for the recently-departed Antonio Conte, while also planning for their fixture with Everton at Goodison Park on April 3 and beyond.

Paratici has appealed his ban, with the outcome currently pending. However, Sky Sports report that the Italian cannot currently involve himself in any transfer activity and is, therefore, unable to liaise with players and agents ahead of a vital summer window in North London.

At this moment in time, Sky Sports are unsure whether he is allowed to be involved in Spurs' quest to find a third manager in two years, with Julian Nagelsmann and Maurcio Pochetino both linked with the vacant position.

Paratici helped lure former Everton talisman Richarlison away from Goodison Park last summer in a deal worth £50m, with the Italian capitalising on the Blues' financial uncertainty to strike a deal for the Brazilian.

Next week, the Tottenham forward will make his first return to Merseyside since ending his four-year stay at Everton as Cristian Stellini begins the post-Conte era with a trip to Goodison Park. Spurs currently sit fourth in the Premier League and have a seven-point cushion on Liverpool in sixth, albeit having played two games more.

Jurgen Klopp's side are tasked with season-defining visits to Manchester City and Chelsea in their next two games, before welcoming top-of-the-table Arsenal to Anfield on April 9 as they look to fire themselves up the Premier League table and into the Champions League places in the final two months of the season.
