Everton and Liverpool fans will be able to 'Choose a Chant' during Sky's Premier League coverage

Sky Sports have confirmed that Everton and Liverpool fans will be able to vote on what chants they want to hear during live games on their channels.

The added feature will be available in their Fanzone and Watchalong options for their coverage of the Premier League’s restart.

Sky will show 64 of the remaining 92 matches this season, with 25 of those games being on their free-to-air Pick channel.

However, Sky's free-to-air coverage will not include an option to switch off the fake crowd noise, as the broadcaster has deemed it better to include the crowd noise than not.

While those supporters with a Sky Sports subscription will be able to choose between watching games with fake crowd noise on Sky Sports Main Event and the same matches without it on Sky Sports Premier League.

In partnership with EA SPORTS FIFA, Sky has created a range of bespoke and team-specific crowd noises and chants in a bid to bring a vibrant atmosphere to their broadcasts.

The 'Choose a Chant' feature will allow fans to vote on which songs should be played while the game is taking place.

While a new Fanzone feature on Sky Sports' website and app will enable fans to watch matches with their friends over video.

“With live sport on hold for over two months, we've spent a lot of time thinking about how we broadcast in new ways to bring fans together, even if they can't meet up to watch the match,” Sky Sports managing director Rob Webster said last week.

“Sky has always been a leader in innovative sports broadcasting, and we're excited by this opportunity to share something really special with the whole nation.

“We want Sky Sports viewers to still feel it all and have the best possible viewing experience – even if they can't be in the stadiums or watch with their family and friends.”

While fake crowd noise will come as standard on BT Sport’s Premier League coverage, although viewers will have the ability to switch it off.

The Premier League is set to return on June 17 after a three-month break due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Aston Villa vs Sheffield United will be the first game back before Man City welcome Arsenal to the Etihad just hours later.

While it was confirmed earlier this week that the Merseyside derby will be held at Goodison Park on Sunday June 21.

The game will mark both Liverpool and Everton's first return to action as part of project restart and will broadcast on free-to-air channel Sky Pick.
