Everton and Liverpool fans no longer able to attend games after Tier 3 confirmed

Everton, Liverpool and Tranmere fans will no longer be able to attend football matches after the Liverpool City Region was placed into Tier 3.

Government health secretary Matt Hancock confirmed the changes today as the Liverpool City Region egion was upgraded from Tier 2 to Tier 3 after the rapid spread of coronavirus throughout the UK.

That means that football fans will no longer be able to attend matches at Goodison Park, Anfield, Prenton Park or other grounds in the region.

Prior to the announcement, 2,000 fans had been welcomed back to Goodison and Anfield respectively, with supporters attending Everton's home matches with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United and Liverpool's fixtures against Wolves, Tottenham and West Brom.

Everton supporters were denied the chance to watch the Toffees take on Man City on Monday after the match was postponed due to a COVID outbreak at City.

Crosby outfit Marine had also been preparing for fans to attend their FA Cup third round showdown with Tottenham.

The change takes place from midnight on December 31.
