Everton and Liverpool 'could return to training next month' as Premier League talks advance

Everton and Liverpool could be set to return to training next month after a report has suggested the Premier League could return in June.

Talks are said to be at an advanced stage between the top flight and Government officials over a potential return to action.

The Mirror have reported there is a 'tentative agreement' for the 2019/20 campaign to be completed behind closed doors with clubs being told to begin preparations for a June return.

At Friday's Premier League meeting, this particular solution was said to have been discussed by all 20 clubs present on the video call.

And it is suggested health officials could give the go ahead for fixtures to be played out in two months time, albeit under strict guidelines.

Further talks with broadcasters have also reportedly taken place regarding this particular plan - with TV companies looking to increase the amount of games being televised in June.

Some clubs are also hoping matches can be viewed on terrestrial channels.

It is thought these steps will help make sure fans don't attempt to attend games which would go against current coronavirus lockdown regulations.

Should the crisis worsen rather than improve over the coming months it is thought any prospective plans to return would be placed on hold.

But as of next month clubs could now be considering quarantined training camps to prepare for any potential June return.
