Everton academy graduate James Vaughan confirmed in new football role

Former Everton youngster James Vaughan has been confirmed as the new Sporting Director at Tranmere Rovers.

The League Two side confirmed the appointment of their former player on Tuesday afternoon on their Twitter account.

Vaughan started his career at Goodison Park back in 2004 before leaving the club seven years later - with four loan spells included in this time.

The former striker retired from football in 2021, but he can be proud of a career that saw him represent 13 different clubs from the Premier League to League Two.

Vaughan made 37 appearances in two years at the club - scoring 21 goals during this time.

"Tranmere Rovers are delighted to announce the appointment of James Vaughan as our new Sporting Director," Tranmere posted on their Twitter account.

"Welcome back Vaughany."

Vaughan replied to Tranmere's post by saying how delighted he is to be back at his former club - in a different role this time.

"Delighted I’m officially part of this club again. Exciting times ahead."
