Lucas Digne rescued a point for Everton to deny Watford a famous victory over their former manager Marco Silva.

The Toffees led through another former Hornet in Richarlison until just after the hour when Seamus Coleman put past his own goalkeeper.

Less than two minutes later, Abdoulaye Doucouré was on hand to head home Roberto Pereyra cross to give the visitors the lead.

Everton were given the opportunity to level the contest when Christian Kabasele shoved over Yerry Mina inside the box.

Gylfi Sigurdsson stepped up to take the resulting penalty only to be denied by Ben Foster who brilliantly kept the ball out of the net with his trailing legs.

With six minutes of injury time added on, the home side were given another golden opportunity to draw level when Kabasele handled the ball on the edge of his own box.

And Watford would be denied a first ever win at Goodison Park when Digne, a summer signing from Barcelona, stepped up to curl a wonderful effort into the top corner.

A win would have moved Watford level on points with Everton but they settle for moving one place up to 12th. Everton remain seventh, two points behind Manchester United.
