Confirmation that Mikel Arteta has reached an agreement to become the new Arsenal head coach has got supporters talking.
For the second time in the past two decades, the Gunners had been on the lookout for a new manager/head coach.
Unai Emery - the chosen one to step into Arsene Wenger's shoes after the legendary Frenchman left his position at the end of the 2017/18 season - was sacked almost three weeks ago.
The Spaniard paid the ultimate price for a seven-game winless run across all competitions and the 2-1 home loss in the Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt proved to be the final straw.
Gunners legend Freddie Ljungberg, who as one of Emery's assistant head coaches during the first four months of the new campaign, was placed in temporary charge.
But after overseeing just one win in five games across all competitions, the Swede urged the board to make a decision following the 3-0 loss against Manchester City.
"I'm very honoured to do this, but I've told the club that it needs to be cleared up and that they need to make a decision - regardless of what that is," Ljungberg said.
And that message was heard loud and clear.
As reported by football.london , Arteta has reached an agreement with the club to become the new head coach and will sign three-and-a-half year contract following City's Carabao Cup tie against Oxford United.
It is understood that only legal paperwork and fine details stand between Arteta and his unveiling at the Emirates Stadium.
Much to the delight of many Arsenal fans.
