Everson Griffen said he’s going to apologize to Kirk Cousins for mean tweets now that he’s back with the Vikings

Last season was a year to forget for Everson Griffen, but he’s back with the Minnesota Vikings.

He just needs to clear up some awkwardness with Kirk Cousins.

The four-time Pro Bowler signed with the Vikings on Monday, returning to the team that he spent the first 10 seasons of his career with before signing with the Cowboys (and getting traded to Detroit) last season.

Now, in that one season away from Minnesota, Griffen and the Vikings weren’t on the best of terms. He wasn’t pleased when head coach Mike Zimmer called him a “good” player as opposed to great. He also sounded off about Cousins on Twitter back in January.

Yeah, that could get awkward.

Upon meeting with reporters on Monday, Griffen was asked about the tweets. He said that he had already apologized to Zimmer and GM Rick Spielman. He just needs to catch up with Cousins.

Griffen said:

“I haven’t really talked to him yet, but I’m gonna get around to doing that. You know, apologize to him. I apologized to Coach (Zimmer) and Rick (Spielman) about what I said. I take full ownership in that. I still gotta talk to Kirk and apologize to him about that.”

I can only imagine how fun that conversation will be.
