Racing New South Wales is negotiating with the New South Wales Government to use part of the Sydney Harbour Bridge to promote the barrier draw for the Everest horse race in October.
The proposal could see the runners' colours and numbers projected onto the southern pylon of the bridge, but no logos on the bridge itself.
Transport for NSW has confirmed it is in talks with Racing NSW on a proposal to make the Everest race.
"Discussions have included the projection of the runners' colours and number on the southern pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and the use of lighting already installed from Vivid," a Transport for NSW spokeswoman said.
"There would be no logos projected onto the bridge.
"The final proposal requires approval by Heritage NSW."
The draw for the $14 million race, which is the richest in the world, will take place on October 15.
Last year there was a nationwide outcry when the draw was projected on the sails of the Sydney Opera House.
After an ugly stoush between 2GB broadcaster Alan Jones and Sydney Opera House chief executive Louise Herron, Premier Gladys Berejiklian authorised the promotion, saying it would be done "in good taste".
A Change.org petition against the use of the Opera House for the promotion of the event garnered more than 310,000 signatures.
