Holding events of up to 5,000 participants became possible on Friday as the government further eased its restrictions on events to promote the resumption of socioeconomic activities.
Concerts, exhibitions and professional sporting events are now allowed to be held either indoors or outdoors with a max of 5,000 people or at 50% normal capacity, whichever is less.
The previous limit on the number of participants was 1,000. Professional sporting events, which attract spectators from all over the country, have been held without spectators. Now spectators are allowed once infection prevention measures are thoroughly taken.
The government plans to ease its request for voluntary restraint in stages about every three weeks until the end of July, the end of what it calls a "transition period." The government plans to lift the cap on the number of event participants from August.
