One area that holds many people back - particularly women - is self-doubt and lack of confidence. Evidence shows that compared with men, women don’t consider themselves as ready for promotions, they predict they’ll do worse on tests, and they generally underestimate their abilities. The confidence gap can be a self-perpetuating problem.
Lack of confidence can lead to a lack of action. Conversely - taking action and seizing opportunities boosts confidence. We’ll be bringing together a panel to discuss this and more, sign up here to attend.
Join us on Wednesday 3 December from 5.45pm to discuss:
* Why do women feel this way? Do men suffer from the same phenomenon?
* Does confidence matter as much as competence?
* Can confidence be acquired?
* Is the confidence gap cultural or psychological?
* How can we give ourselves the confidence to succeed?
Moderated by Harriet Minter, editor, Guardian Women in Leadership.
The panel will include:
* Jacqueline Gold -- CEO, Ann Summers, and Barclays Bank’s Most Inspirational Businesswoman in the UK
* Sue Stockdale - British Polar adventurer and motivational speaker. Sue was the first woman to ski to the magnetic north pole
