So it is with excitement that rumours swirl of Spanish train operator Renfe planning to launch a high-speed service from London to Paris, raising the possibility of trains to Madrid and Barcelona.
This is welcome news not only because it would allow Brits to holiday in Spain while avoiding the numerous low-key indignities of air travel, but also because taking the train emits vastly less carbon dioxide — crucial to combating climate change. Next stop, La Sagrada Familia.
