An artist shortlisted for the Evening Standard Art Prize will showcase work in a new exhibition focusing on the black British experience.

Sola Olulode, whose painting titled She’s My Sister was shortlisted last year, will join 13 other artists for a new exhibition at the OXO Tower.

Opening on March 6 for five days, Here and Now is set to bring black British narratives to life through art, documenting both historical and contemporary themes including Windrush, Brexit, female identity, fashion, social media and more.

Lesley Asare, Flo Awolaja, Karla Cornwall, Drew Sinclair and Kourtney Stuart-Mason are just a few names to star in the upcoming free exhibition, which has been curated by fellow artists Merissa Hylton and Samantha Almon Adeluwoye.

Visitors can expect bold and contemporary visual arts in a variety of forms, with paintings, sculpture, photography and film all featuring in the show.

Olulode’s shortlisted artwork She’s My Sister also touched on the theme of identity, exploring black British girlhood and the lives of young black women and their development through adolescence.

Here and Now runs from March 6-10 at OXO Tower from 11am-6pm daily, oxotower.co.uk
