Even Raiders coach Jon Gruden asks Kliff Kingsbury about Kyler Murray

Because of the NFL draft rumors flying around about the Arizona Cardinals, the question everyone wants to know is whether or not they will use the first overall pick to draft Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray.

At this point, it seems like a foregone conclusion, although they continue to do their homework with other prospects.

In almost every single interview, Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury is asked about it, especially considering his comments about Murray back in October when he was Texas Tech’s head coach.

The rumors are enough to get Oakland Raiders coach Jon Gruden to ask about it.

At a clinic for local high school coaches during the league’s annual meeting in Phoenix, Gruden popped the question.

“He asked the toughest question of the day,” Kingsbury recalled on the Kingsbury Chronicle podcast. “He asked if we were going to take a certain quarterback from Oklahoma.”

It came after four or five of the high school coaches asked some good questions.

Kingsbury, though, had some fun with it. His response was, “it depends on how many first-round draft picks you have.”

Gruden played along. “I got three,” he said.

If this anything we can read into? Not really, although it sounds like the Cardinals would give up the top pick for multiple first-round picks. As for whether or not Murray will be the guy, it certainly looks like he could be.

But it also looks like it really is as the team insists — they aren’t dead set on anyone at this point.
