Even Jalen Hurts was impressed by his behind-the-back play vs. Texas

Oklahoma’s 34-27 win over Texas at the Cotton Bowl on Saturday wasn’t Jalen Hurts’ best performance — at least by the exceptionally high standards he’s set this season.

As a Heisman Trophy favorite, Hurts threw 16-for-28 for 235 yards and three touchdowns while adding 131 rushing yards and another touchdown. But he also had two red-zone turnovers with a fumble in the first quarter and an interception — his third of the season — early in the second, and his completion percentage hit a season-low at 57.1 percent.

Still, he had a dominating performance with plenty of highlights, including one ridiculous behind-the-back move that impressed everyone. Hurts was pretty stunned too.

On 3rd-and-12 late in the third quarter, Hurts faced pressure in the pocket and was nearly sacked. While escaping the tackle, he moved the ball behind his back to protect it and eventually connected with wide receiver CeeDee Lamb — who had an outrageous game against the Longhorns — for an 11-yard pickup.

While the college football world was stunned by the move, so was Hurts, who tweeted about it after the game.

You could say that again.

Oklahoma remains undefeated at 6-0 and is on track to return to the College Football Playoff, should it defend its Big 12 title.
