'Even if it was just a season’ - Gary Lineker makes Everton admission

Former Everton player Gary Lineker has said Everton are the best team he has ever played for.

The ex-England international, who played for the Blues 57 times scoring a phenomenal 40 goals, spent one season at Goodison Park after arriving from boyhood club Leicester City in 1985.

Following his season-long spell on Merseyside, Lineker opted for a move to Barcelona. Even in spite of his short stay the Match of the Day presenter has never lost his love for the club.

On Wednesday evening, Lineker shared a message with his 7.5m followers after watching Everton documentary 'Howard's Way' which was released last year.

Lineker wrote: "Finally got to see @HowardsWayFilm and it’s wonderful.

"Such a bunch of brilliant and fantastic people and characters, superbly managed by Howard Kendall.

"So glad I played with most of them. So glad I played for @Everton even if it was just a season.

"Best team I ever played for."
