Chris Evans is in talks with the BBC1 controller, Lorraine Heggessey, about a return to UK television, it was reported today.
Evans has taken the last 10 months off work to travel with new wife Billie Piper since being fired from his last broadcasting job as Virgin Radio's breakfast DJ in June last year.
But now he is looking to make a comeback and has held secret meetings with Ms Heggessey, according to today's Daily Star.
The two have discussed Evans's ideas for a new talk show and a game show.
Evans established himself as a successful DJ before switching to TV presenting as the first co-host of Channel 4's Big Breakfast with Gaby Roslin.
He went on to present and produce successful Channel 4 shows Don't Forget Your Toothbrush and TFI Friday through his own independent company, Ginger Television.
But Evans has not been seen regularly on British TV screens since TFI was dropped by Channel 4 at the end of 2000.
