Evangelos Marinakis sent Steve Cooper message ahead of crunch Nottingham Forest clash

Nottingham Forest fans have sent a clear message to the club over the future of Steve Cooper ahead of what could be a crucial game on Monday night (8pm kick-off).

Forest make the short journey to Leicester in the final game of the weekend looking to stop a run of four straight defeats in the Premier League. That poor run of form has left the Reds in the relegation zone.

Keeping them from the bottom of the league is Monday night’s opponents, Leicester City, who themselves have had a disappointing start to the season having lost their last six league games.

With Forest also struggling it has led to some talk over Steve Cooper’s future, especially with the head coach yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.

Addressing his own situation in his pre-match press conference, Cooper moved to reassure fans . "It (the contract) is not on my mind,” he said. “If it’s on other peoples’, then all I can say is, I’ve never worked harder in my life than what I am now.

"And I don't think I’ve ever lacked work ethic because I’ve had to fight to do alright in work, as I’ve done so far at times. No time to stop now; it’s time to work even harder.

"I don’t mind saying this, this job has meant so much and means so much to me. It’s never meant so much to me as what it does at this moment in time.”

The Forest boss also said that he is in regular contact with owner Evangelos Marinakis. Cooper added that conversations between the two have been 'normal'.

Comments from Cooper on his future have gone down well with fans with many taking to social media to urge the club not to make any rash decisions over his future amid the poor run of form. Here’s what just some had to say.

HowieB74 : All Forest fans absolutely love this man. No one can legitimately question whether he’s the right man for the job already, given what he’s achieved for us and the fact he’s trying to manage a brand new team. In Cooper we trust… #NFFC

David Singleton : Can’t help but feel Cooper could become a victim of his own success. He took a club heading for relegation from the Championship to the Premier League with a team of loanees. Now having to mould a squad of 22 new players in the live environment of the PL. Give him time. #NFFC

John Michael White : No matter what happens this season, we need to keep hold of this guy. He's the real deal. #nffc

Alistair White : Don’t care if we’re rock bottom, do not sack this man. #nffc

Steve : Keep Cooper forever.

Bradley : Gahhh I love him, don't care if we get relegated.

Tom Walker : No other manager will do.

@forestfan302 : Cooper must stay, if anyone can get us back on track its Cooper. He's allowed to make mistakes and get things wrong, which he will because its the toughest league we are competing in. Not many managers can take their team from rock bottom to promotion. Keep the faith. #NFFC
