Evangelos Marinakis receives Steve Cooper instruction after Nottingham Forest contract update

Nottingham Forest supporters have been discussing the future of Steve Cooper following reports that a new contract offer has been withdrawn.

The Reds boss is under severe pressure as a result of a five-match losing streak which has left his side at the foot of the Premier League table. Monday night's 4-0 defeat to East Midland rivals Leicester City prompted reports that the Welshman was facing the sack, with Rafa Benitez and Sean Dyche linked as contenders to replace him.

And according to the Daily Mail, Forest have withdrawn their offer of a new contract at the City Ground following talks in the summer. The report claims the offer is "is no longer on the table", with Cooper in the final 12 months of the two-year deal he signed in September 2021.

Some have already questioned the prospect of Evangelos Marinakis dismissing the former Swansea City boss, with Richard Keys and Simon Jordan sending warnings to the Reds owner.

Following reports that the contract offer has been withdrawn, Forest fans have been left split on what they believe is the best decision for the club. Here's what they have had to say...

theeverydayworkingman: Don’t know why everyone is so desperate to keep Steve Cooper. People called for Joe Worrall to be dropped after giving his whole life for the club and achieving promotion but when the manager doesn’t perform it is “give him time”. Love Steve Cooper but it looks like the wrong fit at this time and if we’re serious about having a Premier League Club in this City then we need to show we are. Also never understood the contract situation. Takes next to no time for the lawyer to summarise the terms and for it to be signed. If I was offered a new contract at work I wouldn’t keep pushing it back…

TIC TAC: Keep cooper stop changing managers all the time forget the CEO let cooper choose the players he wants we will not win the premiership but cooper will keep us in there the managers the owner as lined up are available for the job because they have not done a good job elsewhere what’s the point.

Glacticoiwish: In the post match interview Cooper said the players didn’t stick to the game plan. We have lost that unity because we are losing matches Cooper has to stay he is the best manager since Clough give him time he will deliver need a settled team.

Mustbmad: I do feel for Steve Cooper, but I have this feeling that he has lost the dressing room..... not surprised, with these "Prima Donnas" and journeymen ....... think all they have to do is turn up .... and how much time do they need to gel ??? Get a world cup team together and they only get a couple of weeks to do that!!!!

ForestPat: If Marinakis fires Steve Cooper it will be a huge mistake. We were in a terrible state last October and he did an unbelievable job getting getting us up. We were told that we had a long term plan and that involved buying predominantly young British players with potential. We were told that Cooper was with us for the long term. We need to stick with him. NFFC will lose the fans' support if they fire him and bring in a mercenary manager.

Sarkyeric: Cooper is out of his depth and needs to be replaced. But replacing him with Benitez or Dyche is going backwards. Nobody will forget the incredible journey last season but we have to move forward and get a manager who can get these players playing.

What do you think the club should do with Cooper? Have your say in the comments...
