Evangelos Marinakis on juggling Nottingham Forest with other business interests and staying 'on top'

Evangelos Marinakis has been discussing juggling his various business interests, including owning Nottingham Forest and Greek giants Olympiacos.

The shipping magnate bought the Reds two years ago, having previously taken over at Olympiacos in 2010.

Aside from football and shipping, his business portfolio also includes the media, recently launching a new television channel in Greece.

He was asked how he keeps on top of them all, during a TV interview in his homeland.

“I do not get tired easily. You will not hear me telling you that I’m tired, because I’m glad.

“The good thing is that what I have done to date is championship. Our shipping companies, Olympiacos, ‘Ta Nea’ and ‘To Vima’ (newspapers), even Nottingham Forest, are leading.

“To do all this is extremely difficult to stay on top. We have achieved something very difficult.

“Let us have our health and we will continue like this.”

Marinakis was asked if he would consider leaving Olympiacos now he also owns Forest.

He replied: “Right now I do not think I should leave Olympiacos.

“In order to leave, one has to find someone to secure the future. Harder to leave than to come.

“And when you feel responsible and have a great love and passion for your team, you want the next (owners) to secure wins and championships.

“I do not see anyone in Greece who can do that.

“I do not see anyone in Greece buying Olympiacos or ensuring even better progress in the future.”

Marinakis also revealed how much money he has put in to Olympiacos during his nine years at the helm.

“From 2010 to today, at Olympiacos FC, the facilities and the Amateur, we have put over 100m euros and more than 150m in taxes and contributions (levies),” he said.
