Newly acquired veteran shooting guard Evan Fournier will make his debut with the Boston Celtics after clearing the NBA’s health and safety protocols Monday morning, according to the team.
Fournier — traded to the Celtics from the Orlando Magic in exchange for veteran point guard Jeff Teague and a pair of second-round draft picks at the 2021 NBA trade deadline — had hoped to play his first game for the team in Saturday’s road contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but had to wait out a stint in the health and safety protocols for undisclosed reasons. With both Romeo Langford and Tristan Thompson already in the protocol and forwards Jaylen Brown and Semi Ojeleye out injured, Boston was looking thin as they prepare to play the New Orleans Pelicans at home.
The contest will be the Celtics’ first at TD Garden with fans in more than a year, a fitting debut for the Frenchman.

Fournier has been playing especially well this season, putting up a career-high 19.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
