Eva Mendes reacts to partner Ryan Gosling's viral Critics Choice moment

Eva Mendes has praised Ryan Gosling's stunned reaction to his win at the 2024 Critics Choice Award.

The Canadian actor, 43, was up against the likes of bonafide pop stars Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa to win Best Original Song at the event on Sunday night, held at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, California.

After it was announced that his track had won the category, the camera panned to a confused-looking Gosling - who was seen furrowing his eyebrows and looking slightly horrified.

As a result social media was ablaze with reaction - with one commenting that Gosling had “created a new meme” with his deadpan reaction.

And one social media response came from his partner Mendes, who shared a clip of the moment to her Instagram page with the caption: “I LOVE HIM!!!!”

Writers of the track Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt went on stage to accept the honour.

Accepting the award, Ronson said: “Wow - we're gonna talk quickly because we're lonely songwriters and they will turn the power of music against us and start playing it,' Ronson said. 'We'd like to thank the Critics Choice obviously for this.

“Ryan Gosling, this is just as much your award as ours: You made the audience fall in love with this song with your ... performance.”

He added: “If there is anything about writing a song, there is no just Ken it's Barbie and Ken, so Margot [Robbie], thank you, and you put this whole thing together.”

It comes after Gosling gushed about Mendes at another awards ceremony on Saturday.

The star honored his longtime partner, 49, - who he met on set of movie The Place Beyond the Pines in 2011 - in his acceptance speech at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Gosling, the star of La La Land and The Notebook, was given the Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film at the star-studded event - which took place hours before the Critics Choice Awards

While speaking about his acting career, Gosling said: “Most importantly, I got to meet the girl of my dreams, Eva Mendes, and have two dream children.

“I dreamed of one day making movies, and now, movies have made my life a dream,” he added.
