Whatever the genre, it seems there's always someone churning out a bowdlerised version. Here, it's coffee-table dub reggae. Moving Without Travelling is the dub equivalent of a third-rate trip-hop album, or the music Faithless would make if they made a dub record. Immensely polite and a little bit trancey, it pitter-patters about in the shallows, while real dub skulks (or should that be skanks?) in the depths. A host of guest vocalists fail to inject anything approaching personality or atmosphere or edge, content to purr banalities over a half-digested slurry of shuffling beats. Eva Be and collaborator Boris Meinhold are producers based in Berlin - not a city you would immediately associate with dub, perhaps - but next to the output of fellow Berliner Stefan Schneider, aka Pole, Moving Without Travelling sounds very middle-of-the-road indeed.
