EV scholarship for bright spark Joshua

STUDENT Joshua Middleton is steering his automotive engineering career in a promising direction after winning an electric vehicle scholarship.

The 18-year-old is just the third student to be awarded the Edinburgh College Development Trust’s EV scholarship, funded by Midlothian Nissan dealership Alex F Noble & Son.

The charitable scholarship is designed to ensure the Penicuik youngster, already taking part in a transport maintenance course at the Midlothian Campus, will leave the college with a greater depth of knowledge in EV technology.

Joshua said: “It’s fantastic to have been chosen to take on this scholarship. Electric and hybrid vehicles are going to continue to become more mainstream in the future.

“So I hope that this scholarship will give me a solid basis to learn how to repair and maintain EVs in my future career.”

Noble Nissan sales manager Gordon Campbell said: “We’re thrilled for Joshua. The Nissan LEAF EV is very much the future of motoring, so it’s fitting that these special scholarships are helping the students of today become the highly skilled EV technicians of tomorrow.”
