An electric vehicle caught fire while being charged and flames expanded to the owner’s house on Tuesday morning in Muang district of Khon Kaen.
The fire broke out at 6am and firefighters took about an hour to put out the blaze. Police arrived to see a badly burnt BYD Dolphin car in the driveway in front of the heavily damaged house.
Owner Setthaphat Kaewfainok, 46, said that before the fire, he had parked his car and plugged a recharging cord into the vehicle. Later he heard the sounds of fire starting and saw the car was on fire.
Mr Setthaphat called firefighters and together with three other residents fled the house which was then engulfed in flames.
