Eurovision winners Maneskin's singer to take test to disprove drug snorting accusations

Italian Eurovision winner Damiano David is "really offended " by the drug accusations made against him and will get a test to prove he wasn't snorting anything during Saturday's final.

Damiano and his band Maneskin romped to victory in the contest, seeing off stiff competition from France and Switzerland, thanks to a colossal score from the public vote.

As the results were unfolding, cameras cut to Mansekin in the green room, viewers' suspicions were alerted by lowering his head behind a bucket of drinks.

Damiano quickly found him at the centre of allegations that he was snorting drugs off the table in front of him but in a press conference after the final he strongly denied the claims, with Mansekin then taking to Instagram to write: "We really are AGAINST drugs and we never used cocaine. We are ready to get (tested), cause we have nothing to hide."

Mansekin appeared on BBC Breakfast on Monday, with Damiano still upset at the accusations and maintaining he was looking down at a smashed glass on the floor, not taking drugs.

‘When I was cheering, I saw the glass broken and I was like, 'my God what happened?'

"I feel really offended, I think that these kind of things are outrageous. We’re young guys with huge passion for the music and this is actually overshadowing our win.

"We will get drug tested to prove it’s all speculation."

The European Broadcasting Union have broken their silence over the drugs controversy, with a statement that backs up the 'broken glass' explanation and revealed that Damiano will get tested.

They said: "The band, their management and head of delegation have informed us that no drugs were present in the Green Room and explained that a glass was broken at their table and it was being cleared by the singer.

"The EBU can confirm broken glass was found after an on site check. We are still looking at footage carefully and will update with further information in due course."
