Eurovision Village as thousands of fans turn out to see Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Thousands of Eurovision fans turned out at the EuroVillage as Sophie Ellis-Bextor took to the stage.

Photos showed the Pier Head packed out with people from all over the world on Friday, on what is the eve of the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took fans up to 45 minutes to get into the EuroVillage, but nobody seemed to mind as the sun shone down at Liverpool Waterfront.

A TikTok Takeover kicked off the celebrations at 6pm as Conchita Wurst, Charlotte Perrelli, Ruslana and Katrina from Katrina and the Waves took to the stage. Fleur East was up next at 8.20pm followed by Sophie Ellis-Bextor's highly anticipated performance at 9.10pm.

People wore their brightest colours clothes and donned huge flags to watch the acts as they danced into the evening. There were huge queues for the Scouse food van and the bar as the acts performed.

At the M&S Bank Arena, all 26 finalists will perform a dress rehearsal tonight ahead of tomorrow's show. There is also a Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final evening preview at 8pm.

The Eurovision village will be home to the best viewing party in the city on Saturday as the Grand Final is broadcast live. The ticketed event, which is now sold out, will see a line-up of pop acts and special performances build up to the main event at 8pm.
