Eurovision superfan in tears after daughter's TikTok prank

A Eurovision superfan who has never been to the song contest before was left sobbing when her daughter played a joke on her during a TikTok video.

Ayamé, 26, who didn't wish to reveal her last name, and her mum, Sarah, 53, are huge fans of the singing competition. Sarah has watched the performances every year for the last 26 years, but had never seen it live.

So, when Ayamé was invited to attend the semi-finals by TikTok, she instantly knew who she would ask to join her. Ayamé surprised her mum with the news and Sarah burst into tears.

The video shows Ayamé pretending to play a word game with her mum, before asking her if she is free on May 11. Sarah can be seen in pure disbelief as she realises they were actually going to the live semi-final in Liverpool.

Ayamé, a content creator, from London, said: "I begged and begged and begged TikTok to let me take my mum. I had made quite a lot of content with her and it filmed well, so they said yes."

The pair attended the first semi-final on May 9 and the second on May 11. Sarah, a historian, had the time of her life and was even able to meet former Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst, who won the contest for Austria in 2014.

Sarah said: "I kept having to pinch myself that I was actually there. I had the most amazing time beyond anything I'd ever dreamed of.

"I have been a Eurovision fan since my childhood so to see it there live and for Ayamé to arrange it all is the most amazing surprise."

The pair won't be going to the final, but Sarah isn't disappointed as she can honour her yearly tradition of attending a watch party. Ayamé said: "She had prior engagements. She goes to a Eurovision watch party every year with her friends, she'll be dressed as Finland this year."
