Eurovision star Dana breaks down while discussing brother's false child sex abuse claims

Eurovision queen Dana had an emotional breakdown on Morning Ireland on Monday.

The singer was on the show to promote her new album, ‘My Time’, and spoken about her recent struggles and being afraid to leave her house.

The 69-year-old opened up about the false claims brought against her brother, John Brown, and the impact they had on her.

In 2014, Mr Brown was acquitted of historic child sex abuse charges.

Dana then sued after an online report wrongly alleged she had given evidence at her brother’s trial about steps taken in relation to him.

The All Kinds of Everything singer opened up about the toll the case took on her before it was settled in November of last year at the High Court in Belfast.

Virgin Media One presenter Ciara Doherty told Dana that she understood the accusations had taken a major toll on her.

Dana broke down in tears and struggled to respond.

She said: “Am I ok if I don’t go there. But it’s like a well.

“I think it’s part of your healing to talk about it but it’s hard to talk about it.

“It was lies that were believed by many people and on a terrible subject worse than murder and I think [about] the effect upon me and my children and my husband and my family.

“The fact that it could be any one of us that those lies could be told about, anybody could end up in the same situation as me and it just completely shattered me.

“I lost my eyebrows, I lost my eyelashes, I lost my voice and I lost my confidence to go out. I just wanted to stay where I felt safe.”
