Eurovision Song Contest 2019: Graham Norton makes awkward dig at Madonna

Many of us tune in to Eurovision Song Contest to see what bonkers performances we'll have the pleasure of watching this year.

But then we also love to enjoy the commentary provided by Graham Norton during the three hours and 45 minutes long contest on the BBC.

And the Irish TV and radio presenter couldn't help but fire some cheeky digs in Madonna's direction.

The Queen of Pop took to stage in Tel Aviv, Israel, where the 64th contest was taking place, in a rather interesting outfit because as we all know, Madonna likes to make an entrance.

Donning a very sparkly black and silver number, it was more her choice of accessory that became the centre of Graham's naughty quip.

As she spoke to Eurovision hosts last night, the 60-year-old singer said: "The one thing that brings me here is the power of music, never underestimate the power of music.

"I'm bringing the heat tonight!"

Then over to Graham who said: "Madonna, what a trooper, still showing up despite a nasty case of conjunctivitis.

"What a showbiz professional."

The 56-year-old presenter was referring to the pop diva's eye patch which we can only assume was all part of her character for the evening.

Madonna performed two songs during the contest's interval - her 1989 hit Like A Prayer and new single Future with US rapper Quavo.

Her appearance in Tel Aviv was confirmed less than 48-hours before she took to the stage after controversy surrounded this year's event.
