Eurovision fans beg Nicola Sturgeon for Scots entry as Norway entrant is Lewis Capaldi double

Eurovision fans bombarded First Minister Nicola Sturgeon with requests for a Scottish song entry while they watched the contest - and saw a Lewis Capaldi doppelganger.

Scots fans got very excited about Norway's entry looking a bit like our own Lewis Capaldi.

Social media went crazy with one joking: "Lewis Capaldi's Elton John phase."

Another added: "This Norway geezer looks like Lewis Capaldi raided a fancy dress store #Eurovision."

And someone else said: "Remember the beef between Lewis Capaldi and one of the Gallaghers?

"Well it's come to a head now. Lewis has nicked a Gallagher's sunglasses and entered #Eurovision for Norway."

As fans watched the Capaldi lookalike they thought it was the perfect opportunity to ask the First Minister for their own song to represent Scotland.

Scots singer Amy Macdonald represented Scotland in Germany's Free Eurovision song contest last week and came third, but a lot of music fans wanted to put themselves forward to represent the country.

One said: "Hope @NicolaSturgeon is having a few drinks and enjoying #Eurovision planning on how to get Scotland performing as an independent country."

Another asked: " @NicolaSturgeon Do you promise an independent Scotland will enter Eurovision? #Eurovision #snp #scotlandineurovision."

Many of the offers and ideas of an original song were hilarious.

Some suggested Still Game's Jack and Victor should sing for the country sharing some of their best pub singing moments.

Songwriter Lou Hickey said: "I know I say it every year but I’m going to the top this time. Dear @NicolaSturgeon please can I be Scotland’s #Eurovision entry when our time comes?

"I will rise from a stage of water on a giant Nessie wearing a flowing gown of glorious tartan and everything!"

One woman who claimed to be a teacher said: "I have been ready to be Scotland's entry my whole life... #Eurovision "

Another man said: "My dream is to represent an independent Scotland at Eurovision as a 44 year old in a Loch Ness monster costume."

And another asked: "If Scotland goes independent does Lulu's win retroactively become a win for Scotland? #Eurovision "
