Eurovision 2019: Switzerland and the Netherlands among countries through to Saturday's show after second semi-final

Switzerland, the Netherlands and North Macedonia are among the countries through to the Eurovision final on Saturday.

Albania, Sweden, Russia, Azerbaijan, Denmark, Norway and Malta - who are also considered one of the favourites - also progressed.

Ireland - represented by Sarah McTernan with 22 - missed out on a place in the final. Austria, Moldova and Latvia were also among those who never made it.

On Tuesday, the first successful acts made it through to Saturday night's spectacular including Australia, who have been a part of the contest for several years now.

Kate Miller-Heidke, who is one of the favourites for glory at the weekend, stunned with her operatic rendition of Zero Gravity, a song about her experience of postnatal depression. During her performance, Kate was atop a pole with backing dancers around her.

San Marino's catchy earworm Say Na Na Na - performed by Serhat - grabbed them a spot in the final, alongside Iceland, Cyprus and Estonia.

Serbia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Slovenia and Belarus also made it through to the final stage after giving it their all earlier this week.

The 20 semi-final victors join the "big five" in the final - the UK, Spain, France, Italy and Germany - who do not have to compete in semi-finals on account of financial contributions to the European Broadcasting Union (the EBU).

The host country - Israel - are also guaranteed a final place, which brings the total number of entrants to 26.

Eurovision 2019 is on BBC One this Saturday at 8pm.
