Eurovision 2019: San Marino entry Serhat praised for performance of song 'Say Na Na Na'

One contestant has emerged among the most popular artists of the 2019 Eurovision final: San Marino's performer Serhat.

The Turkish singer, who previously represented San Marino at the Eurovision in 2016, delivered a particularly energetic performance during Saturday's final.

Viewers raved about his performance on social media, hoping the singer and TV presenter would be rewarded with plenty of points.

"Say Na Na Na" is in many ways cut out to be a crowd favourite: it's a catchy, easy-to-sing tune with lyrics that keep playing in your brain long after it's over.

The Independent's music correspondent Roisin O'Connor, who said she was "smiling so much after that performance", deemed the song "ludicrous and catchy and from a completely different world".

On Twitter, viewers expressed their support for Serhat and his song following his performance.

One person who wrote: "'Say Na Na Na' is a bop and Serhat is a meme."

"Serhat always gets the party started, i wouldn’t mind 'Say Na Na Na' getting great points," another person tweeted.

"Say Na Na Na should be a #1 hit single for Serhat!" someone else wrote.

San Marino is one of 26 countries represented in the Eurovision final.

This year's winner will be influenced by the votes of TV viewers casting their ballot via text.
