Eurovision 2019 odds: Netherlands, Sweden... Australia? Who is favourite to win this year's song contest?

Netherlands act Duncan Laurence is the current favourite to win the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.

The 25-year-old from Spijkenisse looks set to follow in the footsteps of last year’s champion Netta when he performs his song Arcade in Tel Aviv, Israel on Saturday night.

Laurence has odds of 9/5 to take the crown, followed closely behind by Sweden’s John Lundvik who is placed at 5/1, according to Betfair.

Despite not being in Europe, Australia is the third favourite with odds of 8/1 after delivering an “unbelievable” performance at Tuesday night’s semi-final.

Michael Rice chosen to represent UK at Eurovision

It’s no surprise that the UK looks set to continue its losing streak with odds of 200/1. Michael Rice will sing in a bid to secure more than ‘nil points’ with his song Bigger Than Us, which is dedicated to his late father.

The 22-year-old from Hartlepool told the BBC: “I’ve got a really good feeling we’re going to get a good result this year and that’s what we need.”

The last time the UK won, was in 1997 with Katrina and the Waves.

Betfair Spokesperson Katie Baylis said: “If the Aussies were to win it’s unlikely the competition would be hosted Down Under next year, leading to questions as to which European country it would take place in.

“Surely with the amount of Australians living in the UK it would be only fair for us to host it for their fans, which looks the only chance the competition has of happening here next year with the UK seen as virtually no chance by punters, at massive odds of 200/1 to win the title this weekend.”

Eurovision Odds:

Netherlands 9/5

Sweden 5/1

Australia 8/1

Russia 9/1

France 10/1

Iceland 11/1

Azerbaijan 12/1

Italy 14/1

Switzerland 16/1

Malta 22/1

Greece 33/1

UK 200/1

The Eurovision Song Contest Final is on BBC One, Saturday at 8pm
