Eurovision 2019 odds: Netherlands, Sweden... Australia? Who is favourite to win this year's song contest?

Netherlands act Duncan Laurence is the current favourite to win the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.

The 25-year-old from Spijkenisse looks set to follow in the footsteps of last year’s champion Netta when he performs his song Arcade in Tel Aviv, Israel on Saturday night.

Laurence has odds of 4/5 to take the crown, followed closely behind by Australia's ‎Kate Miller-Heidke with 6/1 and Luca Hanni for Switzerland with 7/1, according to Betfair.

It’s no surprise that the UK looks set to continue its losing streak with odds of 150/1. Michael Rice will sing in a bid to secure more than ‘nil points’ with his song Bigger Than Us, which is dedicated to his late father.

Michael Rice chosen to represent UK at Eurovision

The 22-year-old from Hartlepool told the BBC: “I’ve got a really good feeling we’re going to get a good result this year and that’s what we need.”

The last time the UK won, was in 1997 with Katrina and the Waves.

Betfair Spokesperson Katie Baylis said: “The Netherlands have been the big favourite with punters for a while now and their odds have continued to shorten through the week, so much so that they’ve been slashed from 9/4 just a couple of days ago.

“Australia are seen by punters as the biggest threat to a Dutch win and are now second favourite from 8/1 earlier this week after a brilliant semi-final on Tuesday. Sadly for the UK, once again it appears there is no hope of victory with odds of 150/1, with punters in no doubt that Eurovision won’t be coming home.””

Eurovision Odds:

Netherlands 4/5

Australia 6/1

Switzerland 7/1

Sweden 14/1

Italy 16/1

Iceland 18/1

Norway 20/1

Azerbaijan 25/1

Russia 25/1

France 33/1

UK 150/1

The Eurovision Song Contest Final is on BBC One, Saturday at 8pm
