Eurostar launches new on-board foodie events with wine tastings and French food

There are plenty of ways to pass the time on a train journey - read a book, watch your favourite show on a gadget or walk to the food carriage... but sometimes, they can all get a bit repetitive.

Now, Eurostar is giving its passengers the chance to liven up their on-board experience, as it's unveiled a host of exciting new master classes which passengers can join in on during their trip!

As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, the high-speed rail service will be launching the classes delving into French art, culture and cuisine on some of its services between London and Paris.

That includes a wine tasting session, cocktail making, Parisian-inspired food tastings and even a talk on French art and culture.

To take part, passengers simply need to sign up on the Eurostar app - although you may want to be quick as each class will only be open to the firs 25 passengers.

The classes will be available on the following dates:

  • Food masterclass on the 4th October with Pierre-Jean Hayes from Secret Food Tours Paris
  • Arts and Culture on the 11th October with Tristan Kennedy from Culture Trip
  • Cocktails on the 18th October with JJ Goodman from The London Cocktail Club
  • Wine masterclass on 25th October with Marianne Diemer, Head Sommelier from the 5-star Hôtel Lutetia

The masterclasses come after research by Eurostar showed UK holidaymakers rate the local cuisine as a priority when choosing a holiday destination.

Meanwhile, 45 per cent of Brits would like to deepen their understanding of food and international delicacies so they are equipped with a better understanding when travelling abroad.

The idea is that the Eurostar sessions will offer passengers the chance to familiarise themselves with the food and culture before arriving in Paris, where they can then make the most of their trip.

Of course there's extra opportunity to explore the best museums and galleries, as if you show your Eurostar ticket at the gate, you can bag 2-for-1 entry ( You can find out more here ).
