European transfer rumours: Arsenal plot swoop for Chelsea target as Spurs eye La Liga star

The transfer window domestically is open but any Premier League clubs hoping for arrivals from the continent will have to wait for a few more weeks.

Plenty of cash is likely to be splashed and some big names could be on their way to the Premier League, where a host of clubs are looking to bolster their ranks ahead of the 2019-20.

With rumours continuing to float around, here are some of the latest concerning Premier League sides.

Arsenal are ready to hand Chelsea a significant blow by moving to activate the release clause of Roma defender Kostas Manolas , Il Messaggero reports, with the Blues shackled by a transfer ban.

A move for the 27-year-old would cost the Gunners a pretty sum of £31.5m but could be exactly what they are looking for to strengthen what has been a leaky defensive line in recent seasons.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is being considered by Juventus and reports state that discussions between the two parties may have begun.

Despite guiding Chelsea to a top-four finish and the Europa League final, the former Napoli boss has come in for some criticism at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea may also face a fight to retain the services of full-back Marcos Alonso , as Spanish outlet AS claims that Atletico Madrid are eyeing a move for the defender.

Given Chelsea’s FIFA-imposed transfer ban, such a move would leave a huge void in the Blues’ squad that they would struggle to fill.

Tottenham Hotspur may have been handed an avenue to bring Gareth Bale back to north London, according to reports cited by Sport Witness , with the Welshman looking set to leave Real Madrid.

Having been frozen out of the squad for the last two La Liga matches, a return to the Premier League is being heavily suggested.

Tottenham are also eyeing a move for Celta Vigo star Okay Yokuslu , Turkish-Football states, although they face competition in the market from London rivals West Ham.
