European Super League latest as Conor McGregor wonders if he should buy Manchester United

Conor McGregor has publicly wondered if he should buy Manchester United as the drama surrounding the European Super League continues this evening.

The UFC star created bedlam on social media by simply tweeting "Hey guys, I’m thinking about buying Manchester United! What do you think?".

People were quick to respond with comedian Al Foran saying "You're giving me serious ideas for Ole and McGregor video sketches here!! Do it!".

While a fan added: "I will brush my teeth with your whisky every morning just say the words".

His quick message came as it emerged that United's executive vice chairman Ed Woodward had resigned from his role - the Englishman was one of the biggest supporters of the controversial super league.

So far Chelsea and Manchester City from the UK's Premier League have been reported to be pulling themselves out of the super league along with La Liga's Atletico Madrid in Spain.

A meeting between the clubs, which include Liverpool and Manchester United, is reportedly taking place tonight in crisis talks about whether the European Super League can go ahead.

Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan are also among the "founding" members of the league which is intended to compete with the Champions League.

Chelsea saw their Premier League match against Brighton delayed tonight as fans blocked the team bus from entering the Stamford Bridge Stadium in London earlier today.

Meanwhile Liverpool players including James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold, led by captain Jordan Henderson, have issued a statement saying "We don't like it and we don't want it to happen. This is our collective position. Our commitment to this football club and its supporters is absolute and unconditional. You'll Never Walk Alone".
