European Rugby chiefs confirm Champions Cup quarter-finals set to go ahead as scheduled next month

EPCR chiefs still hope to play off the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup quarter-finals as scheduled on the weekend of 3/4/5 April.

As things stand, Leinster will still host Saracens at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, April 4 and Ulster will travel to Toulouse for their Sunday, April 5 clash.

There remains the possibility that the games could be played behind closed doors, however, due to the spread of coronavirus.

"It is currently envisaged that the Heineken Champions Cup and European Rugby Challenge Cup quarter-final matches will go ahead as scheduled on the weekend of 3/4/5 April," read a EPCR statement this afternoon.

"EPCR intends to complete all eight fixtures and will continue to monitor developments while liaising with the relevant league and union bodies, as well as governments and local authorities.

"EPCR is fully supportive of any preventative measures that might be required in the interests of overall public health in relation to Covid-19 and will respect instructions provided by authorities". The statement follows confirmation from the Six Nations that the France v Ireland test game scheduled for Saturday has been postponed, leaving three championship games to be played in the autumn.
