European giant reportedly plotting Leeds United raid for Junior Firpo amid left-back struggles

Inter Milan are keen on a move for Leeds United defender Junior Firpo, according to reports in Italy. Calciomercatoweb claims the Serie A side are ready to make a move for the Spaniard after Robin Gosens' struggles since move to the Nerazzurri.

The German international only signed for Inter on loan in January last season, with the deal becoming a permanent one after meeting certain criteria. Gosens has played 90 minutes on just two occasions in the Italian top flight and Simon Inzaghi is reportedly keen on investing in the left-wing-back slot.

The report states links with Firpo are a surprise having split opinion at Elland Road. The former Barcelona defender has had a number of indifferent performances and struggled with injuries, but appears to have turned a corner in recent weeks.

With Leeds at risk of relegation, the report claims Inter are hoping to capitalise if the Whites drop into the second tier. The arrival of Firpo would also depend on Gosens departure, should he leave the San Siro.

The Leeds defender has been getting a run of games in the side since his return from injury and the arrival of Javi Gracia, offering a more attacking output from left-back compared to that of Pascal Struijk - notching the winner against Southampton last month.

Gracia, who signed a flexible contract at Elland Road, made it clear his priority was keeping the Whites in the Premier League and was not drawn into any long-term plans following his appointment.
